Watson’s 25 Favorite Video Games of All-Time

Lists. Lists. Lists. I’ve been doing a lot of favorite lists lately, and next up is video games!

The Atari 2600, which represented the dawn of quality home gaming, was released when I was 2 years old… so my whole life has been pretty much framed by the entirety of the video game era.

I’ve owned the Oddessy, Atari 2600, Apple IIe, Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, PC, PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2, Nintendo Wii, XBox 360, Xbox One, multiple handheld games systems, and… of course…an Alienware gaming laptop.

Because of the breadth of my gaming history, my list covers the full gaming era and plots across all platforms: early console games, arcade consoles, PC gaming, and modern, ultra-realistic consoles.

I always try not to have multiple versions of a series in my lists, so I will include my favorite installment as a stand-in. Otherwise, half of my list would be Call of Duty...

Watson’s 20 Favorite Superheroes of All-Time

I am list crazy these days.  Time to tackle my favorite superheroes ever. This is Gabbing GEEK after all.

I am going to warn you.  My list is DC heavy! Only 4 of my 20 are Marvel characters… and though I like non-mainstream superhero stories, no other company scored a character in the top 20.

I ranked my characters based on their appearance in all mediums: comics, movies, cartoons, and toys.  There are some characters where I liked their film versions, but disliked their comic version so much (Wolverine comes to mind) that they didn’t make the cut!

Watson’s Top 20 Favorite Books of All-Time

I have covered my favorite movies, songs, and TV shows.  Next up?

Favorite books!

Remember…favorite. Not Greatest of All-Time, Phil and Misty!

My list is heavy with fantasy/science fiction (I previously wrote an article on 10 great sci-fi/fantasy books from which this article borrows heavily), business type nonfiction, and biographies.

I realize that I am not terribly literate, even though I have long been an avid reader, so judge accordingly. In other words, you can go to Hell in advance.

Gabbing Geek Ranks the Franchises

When the news that the Chris Pine Star Trek films were dead, the Gabbing Geek bullpen erupted in talks of the fate of the franchise.  We started talking about what was next.  What would happen.  How would Trek stay relevant with just streaming series to keep it afloat.

One thing led to another and then we found ourselves ranking geek franchises in an epic LIST OF TRUTH!  Movies.  TV. Comics.  Toys.  Video Games.  Home pregnancy tests.  Everything was considered in the rankings.  Our ballot was originally 20 franchises, to be easy, but I realized I forgot Indiana Jones so we updated to 21.

True to form, we argued about the ones NOT on the list, but did come to a consensus on a definitive Gabbing Geek ranking of Geek Media Franchises!

Watson’s 25 Favorite TV Shows of All-Time

Image result for television

I recently counted down my favorite songs of all-time, and mentioned how incredibly difficult that was. Enjoyment of music is so ephemeral, that it took a lot of effort just to get the list to fifty; let alone arrange them in order.

But when I sat down to rank my favorite TV shows, it was a little easier.  As when I ranked my favorite movies, there are some tough choices, but it was mostly around the edges of the list.  What got left off?  What was ranked ahead of another?  The decisions were all within a few spots of each other.
