Watson Re-Ranks His Top 10 Movies of 2010-2016

I’ve been ranking my top movies even before we started Gabbing Geek. Sure, I see a LOT more movies now than in 2010 when I first posted my rankings on my Facebook page, but over the years there has always been a Top 10.

I thought it would be fun to go back and re-rank my top ten for 2010-2016 to see how my lists have held up over time (2017 is too recent to have changed much).

Also, I only include movies I saw that year, and not ones I later saw on home video in subsequent years. Trying to stay consistent with my lists, just adding some time based perspective.

Without further a dude…

25 Best Performances in Game of Thrones (and One Hodorable Mention)

gameofthrones-580x328

One of the most amazing things about Game of Thrones is that almost everyone there brings their A-game in the acting department.  All too often, genre shows borrow from the Shatner School of Acting and bring the ham and cheese.  Since everyone is so amazing, the competition is fierce for the title of The Best Performer.  Who wins THIS Game of Thrones?  Here’s a surprise:  It’s NOT Peter Dinklage.

If The Justice League Had to Fight….TO THE DEATH?!?

IMG_7065
I was going to write an article to coincide with the start of the NCAA basketball tournament consisting of a bracket of 64 superheroes in a “who would win a fight” contest. Those are so boring though because inevitably the answer is “Superman wins!” Thinking of scenarios that could make for better clickbait more entertaining content led me to recall one of the greatest articles I have ever read in the history of the Internet. Thus begins our journey!

Good Performances in Bad Superhero Movies

nicholas_cage_superman_outfit
It would have been a bad movie, but Cage would have been amazing!

Today we celebrate the roses that grew out of a steaming pile of horse manure. It’s easy to bask in the accolades of a strong performance in an epic superhero flick. Chris Reeve got us all started with his turn in Superman. Ledger was all-time in the brilliant Dark Knight. RDJ was amazing in the transformative Iron Man. But what about the people who rise to the occasion in a real stinker? Let’s give them their moment in the sun!

JL

It is often said on the Gabbing Geek podcast (listen to it!) that I don’t read comics.  Well I did once.  So in talking to my buddy Phil Ray the other day, he asked me to write a post on my ten favorite Trade Paperbacks ever (“other than Watchmen, of course”). I would tell him writing for a website is not like being a DJ at da club because we don’t take requests, but he did introduce me to my ex-wife (thanks, jerk) so here we go…
